Tickets please

The Ticket Office opens daily during the season at 8:30am for ticket collection and sales. Tickets can also be purchased in advance of travel at www.snowdonrailway.co.uk or by telephone.

Please note: Only advanced sales can be made online or by telephone, not on the day of travel and are subject to £3.50 administration per booking. We recommend customers arrive 60 minutes prior to travel to collect pre-booked tickets and enjoy the free Film Theatre production. Tickets are non-transferable or refundable so please check the weather forecast before making a booking (www.metoffice.co.uk).

Single tickets

Can be purchased in advanced for the journey up Snowdon. Descent single tickets are only available on a stand by basis from the Summit platform.

Please note: At very busy times all trains may be fully booked so we cannot guarantee a journey back down should you decide to walk up.

Departure times

The first departure from Llanberis is scheduled for 9:00am and at regular intervals thereafter, although trains run to passenger demand. On very busy days, trains can sell out very early in the day, so avoid disappointment please call to check availability.

Journey duration

Summit Traditional Diesel Service can last up to two and a half hours which includes a stop of approximately 30 minutes at the summit.

Heritage Steam service can last up to three hours which will include a stop of approximately one hour at the summit.

All services to Clogwyn can take up to two hours which includes a stop of approximately 30 minutes where the open mountainside offers stunning views. Please note: - There are no facilities of any kind at Clogwyn. To avoid the possibility of being stranded, passengers with return tickets must return on the same train as there may not be later availability or, any later trains arriving at or leaving the summit.

Dogs and Luggage

Only officially registered support dogs can be allowed on the trains and bulky luggage cannot be carried.

Car Parking

Like most commercial organisations we do charge for parking on our car park. Please ensure that you purchase a valid ticket for your stay. This can be done on site from our car park ticket machines.

SMR operates only one car park situated to the rear of the site entrance on Victoria Terrace.

Whilst revenues derived are paid to the railway, any charges for overstays or parking charges levied when customers do not purchase a valid ticket for their stay will be collected by our partners ‘Parking Eye Ltd’

Disabled

Wheelchair users and passengers with mobility issues are asked to telephone us to discuss any particular requirements. Further information and the site access statement are available here.

The Weather

The weather on Snowdon is notoriously unpredictable and can change rapidly. Fine weather in Llanberis does not guarantee fine weather or clear views from any part of the mountain. If weather conditions become severe and trains cannot proceed to the summit they will terminate at Rocky Valley (5/8 up Snowdon) and a reduced fare is offered.

How to Find Us

Satellite navigation systems often misdirect our customers. Please enter LL55 4TT for directions to our car park.
