A Majestic Mountain Top Adventure

Shop and café

Llanberis Station is so much more than just a place to board your train. Your spectacular mountain adventure may start, or end, by watching our busy little trains, shunting or re-fuelling, as everything happens right at the station and can be enjoyed whilst re-fuelling yourselves with delicious snacks and drinks from the Platform Grill or Station Buffet. Our free audio visual presentation will also be showing just across from our Station Gift Shop, which is full of stunning souvenirs and beautiful gifts; and where our exhibition area affords glimpses into the past with hands-on exhibits.

All our retail outlets offer a beautiful range of unique souvenirs and many local products. The shop at Llanberis Station has a large range of sheep and dragons of every shape, size and texture with everything from doorstops and pen tops to mugs and tea towels – not forgetting some of the cuddliest, softest toys around. The sheep and dragon theme continues into our range of Celtic jewellery with irresistibly cute pendants and earrings, although traditional Celtic designs make up the majority of the collection and are also reflected throughout our Pewter gift range. Alongside the traditional there is a stunning range of contemporary jewellery from St Justin’s.

The leisure wear area now includes a new range of hoodies, bright cotton T shirts, and casual clothing with our unique Snowdon, I Climbed Snowdon, Snowdon Mountain Railway and 3 Peaks designs. Our original oak dresser is now overflowing with Welsh jams, mustards and pickles. There are cakes and bakes from Gwynedd Confectionery. To go along with this we have our ‘Chocolate Barrow’ which is full of tempting chocolate treats such as chocolate trains, sheep and dragons or even a chocolate lollipop – perfect for finishing off your picnic or for taking home as a special gift or ‘thank you’ for someone. Also to tantalise your tastebuds we have beers brewed by Conwy, Great Orme and Purple Moose Breweries and the superb Penderyn Welsh whisky.

Come and browse in our new ‘Book Corner’ which has beautifully illustrated volumes covering everything from railways – including a new Snowdon Mountain Railway hardback by Peter Johnson, well respected author of many definitive railway publications - to the majesty of the surrounding Snowdonia Mountains. Amongst the range of smaller books there is a variety of topics to keep you interested and answer your questions, whether they are on local history, language and traditions or Welsh recipes. You can find something for the younger reader with stories of trains, sheepdogs or Merlin to capture their imagination.

For the children – and all those of us still in our second childhood – our range of tin toys, picked to reflect our 115 year old heritage, has to be evocative and irresistible. Large models of mainline steam trains are an ideal gift.

This is the only place you will be able to buy the Certificate to say that you made it to the top of Snowdon – the highest peak in England and Wales. Amongst our other unique items there are laser cut paperweights, T shirts and hats, coasters made from ancient Welsh slate, leather and stationery items and a range of resin model Snowdon Mountain Railway trains and carriages.

Llanberis Station Buffet and Platform Grill and the Summit Visitor Centre, Hafod Eryri, are now offering a range of Welsh produced pies and slices, and a selection of sandwiches and the Welsh Oggie is a pasty almost certainly guaranteed to satisfy the biggest appetite or it is also perfect for sharing.

From the Platform Grill the staff will be pleased to cook you burgers or hot dogs to order and serve them with your choice of sauce and possibly straight or curly fries to go with them. There is always a temptingly delicious choice of cakes which are delivered daily from the baker in the local village and these never fail to make your mouth water. Who can resist fresh scones with jam and cream or a chocolate éclair or a sugary doughnut? For a taste of Wales there are also crumbly, soft Welsh Cakes and mildly spiced Bara Brith – a traditional fruit cake with spices served with or without butter.

A selection of Welsh beers, Snowdon Water, wines and soft drinks, alongside hot drinks including coffee, hot chocolate, lattes, cappuccinos and tea are there for your indulgence in all three of our serveries. For any special occasions, or just as a reward for making it to the top of the highest mountain in England and Wales, there are bottles of sparkling wine from around the world to share and toast with friends and family.
